Cadillac Arts Centre
is an ambitious adaptive reuse project transforming a vacant 25,000 square foot building at 1533 Cadillac into a vibrant hub for arts, culture, and community activity.

Designed by Detroit-based architecture studio M1DTW and in collaboration with Castor Design, the CAC will feature artist studios, nonprofit organizations, and creative spaces, plus publicly accessible courtyards and greenspaces designed by Office of Strategy and Design.

The CAC will be home to arts organizations like InsideOut Literary Arts, Black Art Library, a neighborhood-run ceramics studio, and the nonprofit community organization The Villages CDC. An outdoor courtyard along St. Paul will connect visitors to Bowerbird Home Detroit, Detroit Take Me Home, and In Thicket Books.

“InsideOut Literary Arts is known across the City as a catalyst for creativity and an amplifier of youth voice through the power of the written and spoken word,” says Suma Karaman Rosen, Executive Director of InsideOut. “As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, the timing couldn’t be better — we’re very excited about this new home for our next chapter.”

Opening in early 2026, the Cadillac Arts Centre will be a new anchor for the greater East Village neighborhood — where creativity, community, and collaboration meet.
